The visit to the city can not ignore the Natural Park of the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja, a park of enormous uniqueness consisting of green spaces and two large lagoons of salt water: the lagoon of La Mata and Torrevieja. When we enter Cartagena, we undergo an experience that those who came before us have repeated for more than 3000 years. Archaeology is of paramount importance in Cartagena and the present itinerary makes it possible for us to conjure up the picture of the city in ancient times. To start the discovery of the city we must visit the Cartagena History Interpretive Centre and the Cartagena Medieval, placed on the highest of the five hills which made up the ancient city limits, to continue visiting the more monumental archaeological site, The Roman Theatre, and the uncovered city in the district of the Roman Forum, with the building for religious banquets and the baths. Cartagena's raison d'être is the impressive harbour, so the journey through history must be made on the catamaran towards the Cartagena Defence Architecture Interpretive Centre at Fuerte de Navidad (Christmas Fort), which, placed on one of the sides of the port entrance, provides the city with its impregnable condition.
